Message from our Patron - Lyn Beazley
I have the pleasure of writing this recommendation for an exciting new innovation initiative for Secondary Students in Western Australia. I do so having taken a great interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education as the Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006 to 2013.
I consider that the Innovation Institute has the potential to play an important role in guiding, mentoring and educating future innovators and entrepreneurs. The Institute will provide a much needed boost in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship education for our young people. For Western Australia to thrive, we need to encourage current and future students to experiment, be innovative and undertake entrepreneurial projects. The program will assist in developing and retaining talent in our State and will help create a sustainable, diverse and competitive economy.
I have had the pleasure of meeting the Directors of the Innovation Institute and I was impressed by their professionalism, dedication and commitment to help create exciting innovation opportunities for young West Australians. I consider this initiative can become an important incubator of young minds, providing an opportunity for students to be linked with industry and gain access to invaluable mentoring by professionals. The Institute would showcase the innovation and entrepreneurship skills of the students and help drive the local economy by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.
I commend the Innovation Institute to you as a mechanism to benefit current and future generations of West Australians.
